I chose this picture because I like the idea of making the first term, usually personal or professional, irrelevant. It really is all about passion and being dedicated to a reflective teaching practice. As I watched and read this weeks information about PLNs and social bookmarking, I keep scratching my head. Isn't this how everyone works? I forget busy teaching not having time for reflecting on their teaching practice. Collaboration is not natural for teachers. It's something that must be cultivated. Engineers already always work this way, collaborative, constantly learning, asking questions, seeking input from others around the world. Is this a term the education community came up with? Engineers and scientist have always worked this way. Its all too new and there are too many unknowns to go it alone. I kept thinking "I must be missing something, what is the new concept I'm supposed to be learning here? Spending most of my work-life in ever changing environments, collaboration was/is a source of survival. |

AuthorHi, I'm Lois and teaching is my final career. It is a privilege to help students to close the achievement gap. Too many learners, young and old alike, need new skills and new ways of learning to meet the demands and challenges of the information age. Archives
